Give An Hour
Give an Hour’s mission is to develop national networks of volunteer professionals capable of responding to both acute and chronic conditions that arise within our society. Since 2005 we have focused on providing free and confidential mental health care to those who serve, our veterans, and their families. We have since expanded our efforts to address the mental health needs of other populations. Through the generosity, compassion, and expertise of Give an Hour’s skilled volunteers, we are able to increase the likelihood that those in need receive the support and care they deserve.
The Mission Continues’ vision is for all veterans with a desire to continue their service to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Veterans are at the center of everything we do. We’re building a movement that empowers veterans to continue their service, and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact. At The Mission Continues, we’re on a mission to connect veterans with under-resourced communities. Our programs deploy veteran volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.
Since 2013, MLB All-Star pitcher Justin Verlander has donated $1M directly to excellent veteran nonprofit organizations, and since 2011 had hosted over 5,000 veteran family members to experience a game in his suite at the stadium. After being so inspired by the support that was created for the military and veteran community through these programs, in 2016 he founded Wins for Warriors Foundation, a 501c3 charity, to empower military veterans with a strong focus on family-bonding activities and collaboration with other organizations.
Teammates for Kids began in 1999 with the love and support of 67 Major League Baseball players who made a pledge to help kids. Since then, over 4,700 professional athletes from baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, rodeo and racing have joined our team. "Once a Teammate ... Always a Teammate"
Big League Impact partners with professional athletes through unique, sports-related fundraising platforms to help people meet basic human needs like food, clean water, medical care, shelter, and education in an effort to save lives, restore dignity, and instill hope.
