Dallas Goedert

BIOGRAPHY

Dallas Clayton Goedert was born on January 3, 1995, in Britton, South Dakota. He is a tight end in the NFL.

He studied at the South Dakota State University. In his early years, Goedert attended Britton-Hecla High School where he was an honorable mention all-state selection two times in football. He was a three-time all-conference pick in both football and basketball, was a team captain in both sports, and was a member of the A Honor Roll. 

After he finished high school, Goedert committed to the South Dakota State University where as a freshman in 2014, he led Jackrabbit tight ends with eight receptions and 100 receiving yards. He recorded his first career reception, for nine yards, in the season-opener at Missouri and season highs with three receptions and 42 receiving yards in Missouri Valley Football Conference opener at Illinois State. He also caught two passes for 37 yards, including a career-long 21-yarder, in the regular-season finale against South Dakota. As a sophomore in 2015, Goedert earned first-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors and played in all 12 games and started 10, finishing second on the team with 26 receptions and 484 receiving yards. He caught at least one pass in 10 games and tied for second on the squad with three touchdown receptions. He shared the team’s Offensive Player of the Week award after catching four passes for 63 yards and a 26-yard touchdown against North Dakota State and he received the team’s Effort Award after hauling in two receptions for 63 yards, including a 38-yarder. As a junior in 2016, Goedert was a unanimous All-America selection and finalist for the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award after setting Jackrabbit's single-season record with 92 receptions and his 1,293 receiving yards were the fifth-most in a season by a Jackrabbit player, and the most by a tight end. He caught a touchdown pass in the first six games, starting with a 16-yarder at TCU as part of a five-reception, 96-yard performance, and began the streak of six consecutive games with 100-plus receiving yards with five catches for 101 yards and a touchdown against Cal Poly. He hauled in a career-high 12 receptions and scored touchdowns both receiving with 39 yards and rushing with 17 yards in the road win at Southern Illinois and set up the game-winning field goal in the FCS playoff game against Villanova with a 33-yard reception, ending the day with eight catches for 92 yards and the team’s only touchdown.

In his senior season in 2017, Goedert was once again a unanimous All-America selection, earning distinction on seven different Football Championship Subdivision honor squads and finished 12th in the balloting for the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in the FCS ranks. He earned first-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference recognition for the third year in a row after leading the nationally-ranked Jackrabbits with 72 receptions and 1,111 receiving yards. Also, he ranked second on the squad with seven touchdown catches. He topped the 100-yard mark for receiving six times, starting with 11 receptions, a 132-yard performance at Montana State on September 9, and hauled in his first touchdown catch of the season in the home win over Drake on September 16. He ended the regular season with 11 receptions, a 117-yard performance at South Dakota on November 18, and caught touchdowns in FCS playoff games against Northern Iowa on December 2 and at James Madison on December 16. After graduating from college, Goedert entered the 2018 NFL Draft, where he was selected in the second round by the Philadelphia Eagles. On May 9, 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Goedert to a four-year contract. He made his NFL debut in the 2018 season opener against the Atlanta Falcons where he had a single reception for four yards. He scored his first career touchdown, a 13-yard reception from Carson Wentz, on September 23, 2018, against the Indianapolis Colts and scored a receiving touchdown in both Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers and Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Goedert also caught a touchdown pass from QB Nick Foles in the first playoff game of his career, against the Chicago Bears. 

Goedert reached Super Bowl LVII where he had six catches for 60 yards but lost 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
