DeAndre Houston-Carson

BIOGRAPHY

DeAndre Houston-Carson was born on April 13, 1993, in Woodford, Virginia. He is a free safety for the Chicago Bears in the  NFL.

During high school in Massaponax in Spotsylvania, VA, he earned 3 letters for a wide receiver and defensive. During his senior year in 2010 he was selected to be part of the all-Commonwealth District first team as a defensive back and a running back, he was also named All-Northwest Region as a defensive back. He was named offensive player of the year in his school; he also earned 3 letters in basketball as a guard and one letter in track.

While attending college at William & Mary, he played football and started at all 45 games he appeared in during his 4 seasons there. After his senior season he became the 3rd player in the history of the program to earn consensus first-team All-America honors, he was also named Colonial Athletic Association co-Defensive Player of the Year. He also earned first-team all-conference selection and Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Star.

He was captain of the team and he transition from corner to safety before the beginning of 2015 season; He finished his college carrier with 293 tackles, 34 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 sacks and posted a school-record on a 94-yard interception return to touchdown. 

During the NFL draft of 2016, Houston-Carson was selected in the sixth round, 185th overall by the Chicago Bears; he signed a 4-year contract with the bears on May 9, 2016. During the 2016 season, he appeared in 8 games on special teams as a rookie.

In 2017 he was signed to the practice squad; after been promoted to the active roster, he appeared in 11 games and recorded 10 STTs.

He became a free agent after the 2018 season; he was re-signed by the Bears to a one-year deal on March 29, 2019.
