Eric Rowe

BIOGRAPHY

Eric Rowe was born on October 3, 1992, in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a cornerback in the NFL. 

Rowe studied at the University of Utah and is a cornerback that has played in multiple teams throughout his NFL career such as the Philadelphia Eagles, the New England Patriots and currently the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. In his early years, Rowe attended Klein High School where he had 207 tackles and nine interceptions during his high school football career and he was rated by Rivals.com as a three-star recruit and was ranked as the 39th best safety in his class. After he finished high school, he committed to the University of Utah where as a freshman, he became a starting safety, playing in all 13 games, recording 69 tackles, an interception, and a sack. As a sophomore, Rowe started 10 games, where he had 64 tackles and one interception, while as a junior, he again started all 12 games, finishing with 69 tackles and a half a sack. In his senior year, he was moved from safety to cornerback, started 10 of 12 games and had 59 tackles and one interception. 

After he graduated from college, Rowe entered the 2015 NFL Draft where he was selected in the second round by the Philadelphia Eagles. On May 6, 2015, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Rowe to a four-year contract and was named the third cornerback to begin the season. He made his professional regular-season debut in the Eagles season opener against the Atlanta Falcons and on September 27, 2015, Rowe recorded two combined tackles, broke up two passes, and made his first career interception off a pass attempt by Jets quarterback Geno Smith in Week 3. On December 6, 2015, Rowe earned his first career start in place of Nolan Carroll. He finished his rookie season with 31 combined tackles with 24 solo tackles, five pass deflections, and an interception in 16 games and five starts. On September 7, 2016, Rowe was traded to the Patriots and was named the fifth cornerback. In Week 7, he earned his first start as a member of the Patriots and recorded a season-high six combined tackles and broke up a pass against the Pittsburgh Steelers and he finished his first season with the Patriots with 26 combined tackles with 20 solo tackles, eight pass deflections, and an interception in nine games and seven starts. On January 14, 2017, Rowe appeared in his first career playoff game and recorded three solo tackles against the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional Round, while in the AFC Championship Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he made four combined tackles, two pass deflections, and made one interception. On February 5, 2017,  in Super Bowl LI, he recorded four combined tackles and one pass deflection as the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, making the largest comeback in Super Bowl history after trailing by 25 points in the third quarter. 

In the 2017 season, Rowe was named the Third cornerback to begin the season, where he recorded 15 combined tackles with 14 solo tackles and two pass deflections in eight games and three starts. On January 13, 2018, Rowe started his first career playoff game and made five combined tackles against the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round and in the AFC Championship Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he made four combined tackles and broke up a pass. On February 4, 2018, Rowe started in Super Bowl LII in place of Malcolm Butler, where he recorded four solo tackles and broke up two passes as the Patriots lost 41–33 to the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2018, Rowe was named the starting cornerback alongside Stephon Gilmore to begin the season. On March 14, 2019, Rowe signed a one-year with the Miami Dolphins. 

On December 2, 2019, the Miami Dolphins signed Rowe to a three-year, $16.15 million contract extension season to remain with them throughout the 2022 NFL season. The contract includes $6.57 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $2.10 million. In week 17 against the New England Patriots, Rowe intercepted a pass thrown by former teammate Tom Brady and returned it for a 35-yard pick-six during the 27–24 win.

On April 6, 2023, Rowe signed with the Carolina Panthers.
