BIOGRAPHY

Miles Sanders was born on May 1, 1997, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a running back in the National Football League.

While attending high school at Woodland Hills High in the suburb of Braddock, Pennsylvania, he played for the Wolverines. He was a 3-year starter at running back. After winning Pennsylvania's Mr. Football award during his senior year, he became a top 25 recruit nationally. He also attended the Under Armour All American game following his senior season rushing 9 times for 35 yards. He verbally committed to Penn State before his senior season. After signing his letter of intent to play at Penn State, Miles became a backup for two seasons behind standout All American running back Saquon Barkley. He became the team's starter his junior year. On 2016, as a freshman Sanders made his collegiate debut, he returned two kickoffs for 36 yards and posted a long kickoff return of 19 yards in the second quarter. At Pittsburgh (9/10) he returned two kickoffs for 50 yards and had a long return of 33 yards. On temple (9/17) he carried three times for 27 yards, made his first career carry early in the second quarter, gaining 6 yards and had a long rush of 19 yards in the second quarter, he also returned one kickoff for 31 yards. At Michigan (9/24) he carried twice for 14 yards, made his first career reception for 3 yards on Penn State’s fourth-quarter touchdown drive and returned three kickoffs for 67 yards. On Maryland (10/8) Sanders carried the ball just once in the game, scoring his first career touchdown on a 25-yard burst in the fourth quarter, he returned three kickoffs for 50 yards. On Ohio State (10/22) he returned four kickoffs for a career-best 89 yards, had a long return of 27 yards in the third quarter and rushed once for minus-10 yards. At Purdue (10/29) he caught his first career touchdown pass on his lone reception, he had a 21-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter, Sanders carried the ball three times for 6 yards and returned two kickoffs for 24 yards. On Iowa (11/5) he Had five carries for 34 yards, returned two kicks for 72 yards, including a career-long return of 48 yards on the opening kickoff and totaled 106 all-purpose yards. At Indiana (11/12): he returned three kickoffs for 57 yards, had a long return of 31 yards on the games opening kickoff and carried the ball once for minus-2 yards. At Rutgers (11/19) Sanders totaled 97 all-purpose yards, rushed for a career-high 85 yards on five attempts and returned one kickoff for 12 yards. On Michigan State (11/26) he rushed four times for 5 yards and returned three kickoffs for 63 yards. Against Wisconsin (12/3) he returned four kickoffs for 83 yards, Sanders had a long return of 29 yards on the games opening kickoff. Vs. USC (1/2): he returned three kickoffs for 54 yards and had a long return of 23 yards in the first quarter. As a sophomore in 2017, Sanders played in 12 games, making his first college start in one of them. He started his first game against Rutgers on November 11, 2017. Sanders was presented with the 2018 Red Worrell Award for the offensive player, who has best demonstrated exemplary conduct, loyalty, interest, attitude and improvement during spring practice. On 2018, as a junior Sanders started 13 out of 13 games in the 2018 season. He carried the ball 19 times rushing for 91 yards and two touchdowns. That also included the game-winning 4-yard touchdown in overtime. After this performance, he was named the coaching staff Offensive Player of the Week. Sander's most notable game of the year came against Illinois on September 21. He rushed for a career-best 200 yards on 22 carries. He also ended the game with a career-high of three rushing touchdowns. He was then named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week. To end the season, Sanders finished No. 2 in the Big Ten and No. 15 in the nation with 1,274 rushing yards, was ranked No. 4 in the conference and No. 25 in the FBS with 98.0 rushing yards per game, was No. 5 in the Big Ten and No. 40 in the nation with 5.79 yards per carry. Additionally, he finished seventh in the Big Ten in rushing touchdowns (9) and all-purpose yards per game (108.7). On January 3, 2019, Sanders decided to declare for the NFL Draft and forego his senior season of college football.

Sanders was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. Miles Sanders signed a 4-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on May 9, 2019. He finished his rookie season with 818 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns to go along with 50 receptions for 509 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Sanders joined the Carolina Panthers in 2023.
