Scott Miller

BIOGRAPHY

Scott Miller was born on July 31, 1997, in Barrington, Illinois. He is a wide receiver in the National Football League.

In his early years, Miller attended Barrington High School where he began to play football. He was a three-year varsity player for head coach Joe Sanchez and the Broncos and he played free safety during his sophomore season before playing both ways during his junior and senior seasons. He won the Mid-Suburban League in 2013 before finishing as runners-up in 2014 and he finished his final two seasons with 1,500 receiving yards,  28 touchdowns, including one via kick return, punt return, and an interception return. Miller was a two-time All-Conference player and two-time All-Area and was a captain in 2014.

After finishing high school, Miller committed to the University of Bowling Green to play college football. As a freshman in 2015, Miller played in the final 10 games of the season as a special team an as a wide receiver. He had seven catches for 29 yards, 24 kickoff returns for 457 yards, and had four tackles and in his collegiate debut against Buffalo, he returned five kicks for 68 yards. As a sophomore in 2016, he played in all 12 games, starting 11 times and was a First Team All-MAC, leading the team with 74 catches for 968 yards and 10 touchdown receptions, ranking 25th in the country in TD catches. He also led the team with 19 kick returns, averaging 17.7 yards per return, he had three punt returns for 19 yards and had 1,323 all-purpose yards. He finished fourth in the MAC and 24th in the nation with 6.2 receptions per game and seventh with 80.7 receiving yards per contest and eighth in the conference in touchdowns, as well as all-purpose yardage. On October 25, Miller was added to Biletnikoff Watch List which was given to the best receiver in college football after a strong start to the season.

As a junior in 2017, Miller started all 12 games and was a Third Team All-MAC, leading the team in receptions and yards, posting 63 catches for 722 yards. He ranked among the top 50 nationally in receptions per game where he had four touchdown receptions in which twice went over 100 yards receiving. His longest reception of the season was a 69-yard catch-and-run touchdown against Ohio. In his senior season in 2018, Miller started 11 games for the Falcons, leading the team in receiving yards with 1,148. He was a Second-team All-MAC, First Team All-MAC by Phil Steele and was on the Preseason Biletnikoff Award Watch List. He hauled in a team-leading nine touchdown receptions and led the team in receptions with 71. He ranked seventh nationally in receiving yards per game with 104.4 and 18th nationally in receptions per game with 6.5. He surpassed the 200 career reception milestone, ending the season with 215, tying him for third in program history and accumulated 2,867 career receiving yards, moving him to third in program history. The final play of his career was a 63-yard touchdown reception from Grant Loy against Buffalo.

After graduating from college, Miller entered the 2019 NFL Draft where he was selected in the sixth round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

In Week 15 in 2019 during a 38–17 win against the Detroit Lions, Miller caught three passes for 49 yards and his first career touchdown but injured his hamstring and left the game. On December 17, 2019, Miller was placed on injured reserve.

Miller finished his rookie season with 13 catches for 200 yards and one touchdown as well as two rushes for 18 yards.

In the 2020 season, in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Miller recorded five catches for 83 yards and his first touchdown of the season, his first from new quarterback Tom Brady, during the 38–31 win. In Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders, Miller recorded six catches for 109 receiving yards and a touchdown for his first professional 100-yard game. Overall, Miller finished the 2020 season with 33 receptions for 501 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

In the NFC Championship against the Green Bay Packers, Miller recorded a 39 yard touchdown reception at the end of the first half during the 31–26 win. Miller helped his team win Super Bowl LV against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Miller joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2023.
